Why do we wait for someone else to stand up for what we know is right? In a nation, where speaking your mind is protected by our founding documents, so many Americans wait for someone else to stand up for them. Have we become so apathetic as to not defend ourselves? The paralysis that comes across an individual’s face at the mere mention of politics should strike fear in the heart of all freedom loving people. We have a duty to question the actions of our government and we have become derelict in that responsibility.

Your beliefs are not to be ashamed. These are the core elements of who you are; the very fiber of your being. Many are willing to stifle that expect of one’s self in order to blend in with a crowd or as to not create unrest. Are we willing to sacrifice the most sacred of our rights in order to maintain our popularity? What does it say about our culture if we are more concerned about our social standing than the liberties our nation was founded?

We must stand up against the legal incursion of our rights. We must not be complacent as the bureaucrats define what our best self interest is. Our destiny is not theirs to define, but many are willing to sacrifice liberty for security. One must gather great courage to stand up against oppression. However once you take that stand, it is very easy to move forward. As you do, you will discover that you are not alone.

Over the past two months, Baton Rouge has decided to stand up. As more of our neighbors take a stand, it will become easier for others to join. All of this began because one woman had the courage to stand up. One normal everyday Mom called a meeting in the grass of Independence Park . It is amazing what one person can accomplish, when they have the courage to stand up. Are you the next one to stand?

Re: Take a stand

I think you are "right on". Most of us, like myself, were too busy making a living and providing for our families to really be active although I felt things were going downhill fast. I've always shared my conservative approach to life and government, but now I'm ready to really become active.

Re: Take a stand

So get active! We need all the help we can get. BRTP has big plans and need people like you to help make them happen.

Re: Take a stand

Getting involved can be intimidating, especially for people new to being politically active. I could not spell political 6 months ago. The auto bailouts got the best of me. I started doing some research on the internet and found lots of things concerning the government I did not like. I stumbeled and bumbled and slipped and tripped my way to the BRTP. The great thing about organizing is there is strength in numbers. You do not feel like one individual against the force of the government. You learn about you god given liberties and are more inclined to speak out and exercise those liberties. You also get to meet a bunch of great people. Remeber, the longest journey starts with the first step. Come on in the water is fine!

Politicians are destroying our country. You can ignore the problem , or you can be part of the solution.

Honorable Charles Melancon
404 Cannon House Office Bldg
Washington, DC 20515-1807
Phone: (202) 225-4031
Fax: (202) 226-3944

Dear Congressman Melancon,

I want you to join your colleagues and other representatives across the country in co-sponsoring and supporting the Federal Reserve Transparency Act, H.R. 1207.
Since 1913, our dollar has lost more than 95% of its purchasing power.

HR 1207 amends section 714 of Title 31 of the U.S. Code to remove the restrictions on how the Government Accountability Office (GAO) can audit the Federal Reserve.
With these limitations gone, the Fed's discount window operations, funding facilities, open market operations, and agreements with foreign central banks and governments would all finally be open to congressional oversight.

The GAO would be required to audit the Fed by the end of 2010 and to report its findings to Congress.

Sincerely,

Re: Take a stand

Hi All,

Stay motivated. I volunteered and helped set up and take down for the event at the capitol on the Fourth. I encourage everyone to get active. I feel just like you all. I was going through daily life hoping things would get better and ignoring the issues that I have always felt so strongly about and knowing that they are what has made this country great and are now being diminished. Talk to your neighbors, talk to your friends, talk to your family and when you can talk to your coworkers or fellow church members. Stay informed so, that you can tell them what is going on and get them to join BRTP! It makes it so easy to contact our Representatives and let them know how WE want them to vote. In all honesty, they do not even have to be conservativethey can chose to write the public official to vote whatever THEY want them to vote. Above all this promotes visibilty which enables accountability.

Re: Take a stand

How much does Congress actually care about our health?

H.R.1495
Title: To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to make health care coverage more accessible and affordable.
Cosponsors: None!!!
In the case of an individual, there shall be allowed as a credit against the federal income tax an amount equal to the sum of (1) the amount paid by the taxpayer for insurance which constitutes medical care for the taxpayer and the taxpayer's spouse and dependents, plus (2) the amount contributed to a health savings account of the individual (or the individual's spouse).

A simple way to help pay for medical care by letting Americans keep more of their money. No support.

Instead, Congress wants to spend a few trillion dollars—and impose sweeping regulations.

Also with zero support in the House, by the way:

H.R.2630
Title: To protect the privacy of patients and physicians.
Cosponsors: None
All individuals shall have the ability to opt out of any Federally mandated, created, or funded electronic system for maintaining health care information. No Federal funds shall be used to support, encourage, or otherwise promote the use of standard unique health identifiers (such as those described in section 1173(b) of the Social Security Act, before the amendment made by subsection (a)(1)) in any Federal, State, or private health care plan.
No information from any electronic medical record maintained by a health care provider and created pursuant to a Federally mandated, created, or funded program may be shared with another health care provider absent a signed, informed consent from the patient involved. This shall not apply in a medical emergency. No health care information from an individual medical record shall be placed in a Federally mandated, created, or funded electronic system of health care information, absent a signed, informed consent from the patient involved.
The Federal Government may not require a health care provider to participate in any Federally mandated, created, or funded electronic system of maintaining health care information. No health care provider shall be denied participation in, or otherwise sanctioned with respect to participation in, a Federal health care program because the provider refuses to participate in a Federally mandated, created, or funded electronic system of maintaining health care information.
Unless you live in Texas's 14th District, your Congressman is on board with neither of these bills. Let him know these bills are vital steps in improving health care in America. www.CampaignForLiberty.com

Re: Take a stand

I have never been Politically Active, but I have always been Political. I have always written my Elected Officials and written letters to the Editor when I felt things were getting out of hand. I, like many others, do not have the time to be very Active but I have attended may of the gatherings in Baton Rouge, and plan to attend more.
